The cross belt & in-line electromagnetic separator is one of the most important equipments using for iron removal on conveyor belts, electro conveyor magnetic separator mainly composed of coils, magnet yokes, shells, cooling devices and other parts.

The coil is the key part to generate the magnetic field. In the process of converting electrical energy into magnetic energy, with the release of a large amount of heat energy, the coil temperature will continues to rise. Through the coil heat dissipation or external forced heat dissipation, after a certain period of time, the coil heat generation and heat dissipation balance.

The increase of the coil temperature not only causes the coil resistivity to rise, the effective current to drop, but also the magnetic field strength to decrease, and will easily damages the insulation layer on the coil surface, thereby damaging the coil.

Therefore, it is necessary to use an appropriate coil cooling method to control the temperature of the coil within a reasonable range. At present, the cooling methods of the electromagnetic separator coil mainly include: natural cooling type, air cooling type and oil cooling type. The oil-cooled type is divided into natural oil-cooled type and forced oil circulation cooling type. The forced oil circulation cooling technology is the most mature and the most widely used.

The natural cooling coil is casted and sealed in outer shell with special epoxy resin.

The heat generated when the coil is energized and excited is transmitted to the outer shell through the epoxy resin and dissipates heat through the surface of the outer shell and the heat dissipation fins to achive the balance of the heat generation and heat dissipation of the coil. But there is no other way to assist cooling, so the single-coil structure cannot meet the heat dissipation requirements when manufacturing a relatively high intensity magnetic separator.

Therefore, a single pole multi-coil structure is derived, which greatly increases the heat dissipation area and reduces the temperature rise.

However, if it is used for a long time, it can still not solve the disadvantage of a large gap between the hot and cold magnetic field strength.

The air cooling coil is composed of several coils connected in series. There is an air channel between the each coil. The fan and the coil are in direct contact, and the heat of the coil is taken away by the air flow, thereby achieving heat dissipation of the coil.

The manufacturing process of the air-cooled coil is simple, the coil is in direct contact with the external environment, the coil is forced air-cooled, fast heat dissipation, slow temperature rising, the difference between the cold and hot magnetic fields is small.

But its environmental adaptability is poor, and the dust attached to the coil needs to be cleaned regularly. Only suitable for occasions where the site environment is good. If there is a lot of dust in the use place, and the coil cannot be maintained in time, the service life of the coil will be greatly reduced.

The oil cooling coil is to completely soak the coil in the transformer oil. When the coil is energized and excited, the heat generated by the coil is conducted into the transformer oil by the coil, and the temperature of the transformer oil increases accordingly. Oil cooling coils are divided into natural oil cooling coils and forced oil circulation cooling coils.

Forced Oil Cooling Electromagnetic Separator

While the forced oil circulation cooling coil is energized, the auxiliary cooling device is started at the same time, and the transformer oil pump is started. The transformer oil with increased temperature is forced to be pumped to the oil cooler, forcedly cooled by the fan, and then sent back to the inside of the iron separator, and the cycle is repeated. To maintain the excitation coil at a stable operating temperature.
